EV Charger Installation Cashmere

Connex Electrical, a licensed electrical contractor (#92217) based in Mango Hill, installs EV chargers in Cashmere. Standard home installs are from $990 installed (inc GST), take about 2 to 4 hours and come with a fixed written quote. Cashmere's big blocks often have a house garage and a separate shed, and deciding which one gets the charger is usually the first conversation.

House garage or shed? Charging in Cashmere

Properties here are larger than the suburban norm, often with a lawn, a pool and a powered shed or workshop well away from the house. If you park in the attached garage, the job looks much like any suburban install: a dedicated circuit from the main board and a short run. If the EV lives in the shed, we are trenching across the yard, and the cost depends mostly on distance and what is in the way, such as paths, garden beds or tree roots.

Sheds that already have their own sub-board can be a shortcut, but only if the cable feeding that sub-board is big enough. Plenty were wired for lights and a few power points, not for a charger that draws 32 amps for hours. We check the size of that cable and its protection before relying on it.

Some Cashmere workshops were set up with three-phase power for machinery. If yours has it, faster charging is possible, though most EVs top out at 7kW or 11kW on AC, so a bigger charger may not deliver what you expect. We will tell you what your car can actually use.

Larger-lot considerations in Cashmere

Old Northern Road is the spine of the suburb, linking Cashmere to Albany Creek in one direction and to Dayboro in the other. Without a train line, two or three vehicles per household is normal, and an EV often replaces the daily runabout first.

Long runs bring up voltage drop, which is simply the loss of voltage over distance in a cable. On a short suburban run it is negligible. Over 40 or 50 metres to a shed, we size the cable up to keep the charger working at full rate. That is one reason we measure on site rather than quoting blind for acreage-style blocks.

If the trench crosses an area you plan to dig later, such as a future pool or garden, tell us. We mark the route on a sketch for your records.

Our four-step process

  1. Step 1

    Tell us about the job

Your car, the charger (if you have one) and a few photos. That is usually enough to price it.

  2. Step 2

    Fixed price

You get a written quote with every item listed. No hourly surprises.

  3. Step 3

    Installation day

A licensed electrician fits the circuit and charger, typically in 2 to 4 hours.

  4. Step 4

    Handover

Testing, app setup, a test charge and your compliance certificate before we leave.

What an EV charger install costs in Cashmere

On Cashmere properties, the install price starts at Connex Electrical's standard $990 inc GST for a garage close to the main board, plus the charger. Sheds, detached garages and trenching across the block add to that, and every extra is listed in your written quote before work starts.

What Cashmere homes usually pay
SituationPrice
Attached garage near the switchboardFrom $990 installed (inc GST)
Shed or detached garage with its own sub-boardStandard price plus cable, quoted from photos or a visit
Trenching across the block to the parking spotQuoted per job
Existing three-phase supply for a faster chargerQuoted per job

Included as standard: a new charger circuit and protection at your switchboard, cabling within the standard allowance, mounting, app setup, testing and a compliance certificate. The charger itself is extra unless you already own one.

Keeping your Cashmere install affordable

  • If the shed already has a sub-board with spare capacity, the charger can often run from there.
  • Pick the charger spot before trenching for anything else, so one trench can carry both.
  • Send photos of the main board, any shed sub-board and the route between them.
  • A 7kW single-phase charger covers most acreage commutes overnight.

Cashmere is around 15 minutes from our Mango Hill workshop via Petrie, so we can visit to measure trench runs before quoting without adding much to the timeline.

Every Cashmere job gets a fixed written price before any work starts, so the quote is what you pay. For a line-by-line breakdown, see the EV charger installation cost guide for Brisbane, or call 0474 207 609.

Your questions, answered

How far can a Cashmere shed be from the house before a charger gets expensive?

There is no fixed cutoff, but cost rises with distance. Each extra metre adds cable, conduit and trenching, and long runs need heavier cable to limit voltage drop. A shed 15 metres away is usually a modest addition; one 60 metres away across a driveway is a bigger job. We measure the route and give a fixed price before any work starts.

How much does EV charger installation cost in Cashmere?

A standard single-phase install in Cashmere is from $990 inc GST with Connex Electrical, plus the charger unless you already have one. Long cable runs, switchboard upgrades and three-phase chargers cost extra and are quoted in writing first. Most installs take 2 to 4 hours.

How can I keep EV charger installation affordable in Cashmere?

Charge in the garage nearest the main switchboard, so the install stays at the standard $990 inc GST. If the parking spot is further away, plan one trench for every service and use an existing shed sub-board if it has capacity. Every quote is fixed, so there are no surprises on the day.

Can you install a charger on an acreage property?

Yes. Acreage installs often involve a shed or garage some distance from the house, so the main questions are cable size, trenching and whether the shed already has a sub-board with enough capacity. Some acreage homes already have three-phase for pumps or workshops, which opens up faster charging. We quote the trenching and cable separately so the costs are clear.

Should I get a 7kW or 22kW charger?

For most homes, 7kW is the right choice. It works on single-phase power and fully charges most EVs overnight. A 22kW charger needs three-phase supply and only charges faster if your car supports 22kW AC, which many models do not; several are capped at 7kW or 11kW. Spending extra on 22kW rarely pays off for a single household car.

Do I need three-phase power to charge an EV at home?

No. Most Brisbane homes are single phase, and a single-phase 32A charger delivers up to about 7.4kW, enough to refill a typical daily commute in two or three hours overnight. Three-phase only helps if your car can accept 11kW or 22kW on AC and you regularly need fast top-ups at home. We can tell you which applies to your car.
