Petrie Terrace is compact, steep and old. Its housing is largely nineteenth and early twentieth century: workers' cottages, a rare stretch of attached terraces and some later units. Many lots are narrow and some front directly onto the footpath, so the first question we ask is where you park.

If you have a rear lane, a carport squeezed in beside the house or a parking space cut into the slope, a wallbox can usually be fitted there with conduit back to the meter. Because these are small homes, the run is often short. The tricky part tends to be the board, which in an old cottage may be cramped or overdue for replacement.

Without any off-street parking, a wallbox is not something we can install, since a charging cable would have to cross public land. In that case a reliable public or workplace option is more realistic, and we will say so up front.

Character controls and Caxton Street

Much of Petrie Terrace is covered by heritage and character controls. A charger tucked under a house, in a rear carport or inside a garage is rarely an issue. On a front wall facing the street, a slim unit in a muted colour is the sensible choice.

Caxton Street runs along the suburb's edge, with Suncorp Stadium just across in Milton. On event nights parking disappears entirely, so we schedule around fixtures.
