Mackenzie family homes and chargers

Mackenzie's homes are mainly detached houses from the 1990s onwards, many of them two storeys with a double garage at the front. In a two-storey home, the switchboard is often in the garage or on an outside wall beside it, which is close to ideal. The charger can usually be mounted within a few metres of the board.

Boards in homes of this age tend to have safety switches and some space, so the standard price often covers it. What changes a quote is supply capacity and heavy loads. A pool, ducted air and an electric hot water system all running at once can leave little headroom, and that is where load management helps.

Where the garage is on the far side of the house from the board, the cable runs through the ceiling space between floors or along the outside in conduit. Either is fine; it just adds time and materials, which we include in the fixed quote.
